Mahlia Posey is a viDEO journalist originally from the sun-kissed desert of North Las Vegas, Nevada.

She loves to make stories move. 

She’s currently an associate producer for CBS Mornings. Before that she was on the audience desk as a social video producer at Capital B News. She’s been a politics video editor/producer at the Washington Post, where she was a part of the team that won the 2022 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service for our Jan. 6 coverage. She's a graduate of the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism. Her work has appeared in The New York Times, The New York Times Student Journalism Institute, The Lily by the Washington Post, The Washington Post, AJ+, PBS NewsHour, NBC Nightly News, NBC BLK, NBC Asian America, the San Francisco Chronicle, Richmond Confidential, and Oakland North. 

Mahlia graduated Magna Cum Laude from Howard University in May 2014 with a degree in English and Film. She was awarded the Sterling Allen Brown Award for her work as an English student. She was also awarded the Dean’s Merit Fellowship from UC Berkeley’s Journalism School and served as the president for the National Association of Black Journalist chapter and co-chair of equity and inclusion.

She's received awards from The New York Times (The Armando Montaño award), The Student Academy Awards (Crew member for Gold Medalist Documentary "Hale"), A Regional Murrow Award for Excellence in Innovation and The Vimeo Staff.
